Religious Education is provided for all students, and is taught mainly by two teachers.
At Key Stage 3 students follow the Northern Ireland Core Syllabus for Religious Education which is divided into three attainments targets:

  • The Revelation of God
  • The Christian Church
  • Morality
  • World Religions

At Key Stage 4 students have the opportunity to study for

  • CCEA GCSE Religious Studies
  • CCEA GCSE Short Course in Religious Studies.
  • CCEA ELQ Religious Studies

Students who are not entered for these examinations follow the Core Syllabus for Religious Education and are awarded a Certificate by the R.E. Department.

VISITING SPEAKERS

An important part of our curriculum is to provide opportunities for pupils to learn about religious issues in relation to the real world and in order to inform pupils we invite different visitors to speak to individual classes, year groups or lead Assembly.

COMMUNITY LINKS

We also consider it important to be involved with the local community.

  • Pupils attend local exhibitions, talks etc. where it is relevant to the curriculum.
  • Year 11 students visit local churches as part of their study of the Christian Church.
  • Year 12 students have the opportunity to attend inter-school conferences e.g. LIFE Conference.
